Fresh off of a back-to-back win at the Rolex Kentucky 3-Day-Event in the US, Michael Jung will head straight to the Mitsubishi Motors Badminton Horse Trials for a real chance of winning the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. The Grand Slam has only ever been won once before (by Pippa Funnel), although two others have come close (Andrew Hoy & Oliver Townend).

Jung is probably the most serious contender we’ve ever seen to match Pippa’s accolade, as the most successful event rider in history. The German is probably the coolest calmest event rider you’ll ever see under pressure, and this should make for a particularly exciting Badminton this year. His mount for next week’s Badminton is his World, European & Olympic Championship horse La Biosthetique – Sam FBW (pictured above).

I sincerely wish him all the best in his shot at this title, and can’t wait for next week!
